Contributions to the Cooperative Sector: While widely recognized as a prominent media personality, author, and politician, Veerendra Kumar dedicated decades to strengthening dairy cooperatives across the hills of Wayanad and Malappuram.He organized small tribal and mountain farmers into milk-producing collectives, securing state-subsidized cold storage units and chilled transport vehicles for them. This allowed remote hill communities to bypass private middlemen and directly tap into urban consumer markets, transforming cattle rearing into a sustainable livelihood and establishing a strong foundation for the Milma network in North Kerala.
Awards and Recognitions: Honored with the prestigious V. R. Krishnan Ezhuthachan Janmasathabdi Award in 2013 for his extensive contribution to the socio-economic development of rural communities.
