- Association and Role within Society or Entity: Minister for Industries in the second E. M. S. Namboodiripad Ministry; and chief political patron of Kerala Dinesh Beedi.
- Contributions to the Cooperative Sector: When a major private tobacco manufacturer suddenly shut down its processing units in 1968, leaving roughly 12,000 workers to face immediate starvation, Thomas used the cooperative model as an instrument of state industrial rescue. He designed a collaborative equity model where the state government injected share capital alongside worker savings to inaugurate the Kerala Dinesh Beedi Workers Central Co-operative Society in 1969. His strategy successfully transformed desperate, unorganized daily-wage earners into equal member-owners of a massive, profitable industrial collective that redefined worker self-management and corporate structure in India.
- Awards and Recognitions: Commemorated extensively by trade unions and public bodies across Malabar, with numerous cooperative industrial complexes and urban squares named in his honor
