- Contributions to the Cooperative Sector: Ezhuthachan was a towering champion of agrarian emancipation in central Kerala (erstwhile Cochin state). He organized small paddy cultivators into mutual marketing collectives to shatter the suffocating monopoly of feudal landlords and speculative private traders. He pushed heavily for cooperative literacy, organizing massive rural campaigns to educate semi-literate farmers on how to inspect credit registers, identify financial irregularities, and exercise democratic voting rights within local boards. His structural advocacy ensured that rural cooperatives remained completely self-governed by actual workers rather than being co-opted by wealthy elites.
