Bihar Cabinet Approves ₹66.11 Crore Grant for Cybersecurity in Cooperative Banks

Patna: The Bihar Cabinet has approved a grant of ₹66.11 crore to the Bihar State Cooperative Bank, Patna, to establish Cyber Security Operations Centres (CSOCs) at the state cooperative bank and all District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) across Bihar.

The initiative aims to strengthen the cybersecurity infrastructure of cooperative banks and protect their digital banking operations against emerging cyber threats, including financial fraud and security breaches.

Under the approved arrangement, the CSOCs will function as dedicated centres for monitoring, detecting and responding to cybersecurity threats. The centres are intended to enhance the banks’ capacity to protect sensitive financial information, customer data and banking systems.

The proposed infrastructure will support a more systematic approach to identifying potential threats and responding to security incidents, helping cooperative banks strengthen their digital protection mechanisms.

The decision comes as cooperative banks increasingly adopt digital banking services and technology-driven operations. As these services expand, robust cybersecurity systems have become essential to protecting transactions and maintaining the reliability of banking services.

The ₹66.11 crore grant represents a significant investment in strengthening the digital security framework of Bihar’s cooperative banking network. The initiative is expected to improve cybersecurity preparedness, support safer digital transactions and reinforce customer confidence in cooperative banking services.

Through the proposed CSOCs, Bihar aims to build a more secure and resilient cooperative banking ecosystem capable of responding more effectively to evolving cyber risks.
